Der Thomanerchor ist nur ein halbes Jahrhundert jünger als die Stadt Leipzig selbst und damit ihre älteste kulturelle Institution. Mehr als 780 Jahre umspannt nunmehr die von politischen, städtischen, religiösen und schulischen Auseinandersetzungen geprägte Chorgeschichte. Der Förderkreis des Chores unterstützt den Chor und seine Traditionen. | The Thomanerchor is only a half century younger than the City of Leipzig itself and is consequently its oldest cultural institution. Since that time, more than 780 years of political, urban, religious and school disputes have encompassed the choir's history. The Förderkreis (Sponsor's Club) of the choir supports the choir and its traditions. |
